Biography

I FIRST HEARD ABOUT AND FIRST HEARD BLUEGRASS ALONG ABOUT 1967 WHEN I WAS ABOUT 10 YEARS OLD. LIVING IN A ST. LOUIS SUBURB, YOU'RE NOT EXACTLY IN OLD TIME MUSIC NECK OF THE WOODS. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR LOCAL COUNTRY DJ'S SNEEKING IN A BILL MONROE OR OSBORNE BROS. SONG, I MAY HAVE NEVER FOUND THE WONDERFUL MUSIC CALLED BLUEGRASS. MY ONLY OTHER SOURCE WAS THE LOCAL LIBRARY WHICH HAD BILL MONROE'S "BODY AND SOUL" LP, WHICH HAD "SHE'S MY SWEET BLUE DARLIN" WITH WAYNE LEWIS IN THE LEAD AND MR. MONROE ON TENOR....WELL, I THOUGHT THE ALBUM WAS FANTASTIC, THAT LEAD ME TO LOOK FOR OTHER OLDER PERFORMERS AND OLDER AND DIFFERENT KIND OF MUSIC, I REMEMBER I DISCOVERED THE OBBORNE BROTHERS AND OTHER SYTLES OF MUSIC BY BOB WILLS AND ALSO JIMMIE RODGERS, AND THEN I REALY SOUGHT OUT OTHER MUSIC OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM AND OF COURSE WONDERED WHY THEY NEVER PLAYED MUSIC LIKE THIS ON THE RADIO? TODAY, I OWN THOUSANDS OF BLUEGRASS LPS AND CD;S AND TAPES. IN THE EARLY 80'S I TRAVELED TO SEVERAL STATES TO VARIOUS FESTIVALS AND HEARD MANY GREAT ARTISTS AND GOT TO MEET AND TALK TO THEM. I WOULD SAY THAT DOING THIS WAS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF MY LIFE. I STILL LOVE BLUEGRASS BUT DO NOT ACTIVELY TRAVEL TO FESTIVALS OR COLLECT MUSIC,AS MUCH ONLY RARELY DO I FIND SOMETHING I DON'T HAVE OR FIND SOMETHING I REALLY WANT.
NOT BG, BUT LATELY I MUST SAY THAT THE HANK WILLIAMS SET FROM "MOTHERS BEST FLOUR" IS OUTSTANDING! SO I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD JOIN THIS SITE, I HAVE SOME IDEA'S HOW BLUEGRASS CAN BE PROMOTED MORE IN THE COMMUNITIES AND I CAN TALK ARTISTS AND SONGS AND RECORDINGS WITH JUST ABOUT ANYONE.I DO NOT PAY A BLUEGRASSINSTRUMENT, BUT HOPE TO PLAY ONE AND BE A BLUEGRASS STAR IN MY NEXT LIFE.I WILL ADD MORE LATER ON TO MY BIO.
