Pretty Good String Band Jam
There is an open string jam session in the Fellowship Hall on Wednesday nights, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. The session is open to the community, and players of all levels are welcome, beginners especially encouraged.
Children are welcome but must be controlled. Group coordinators reserve the right to ask that disruptive children be removed.
As a general rule, only acoustic (non-electric) stringed instruments will be allowed. On an average night, 6-12 people show up, playing guitars, upright bass, mandolin, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, and octophone.
Acoustic instruments other than stringed instruments will be allowed on a case-by-case basis. ‘Over loudness’ and compatibility with the string band would be prime considerations, for example - concertinas, harmonicas, spoons – ok. Accordions and most drums, not. Spectators are welcome, but will be asked to do their visiting between songs and at break.
Our objective is to have everyone hear every instrument and every word. A donation jar will be put out to pay for electricity, heat, etc. No drugs or alcohol are allowed.
