Pick, Strum n' Saw
Do you play an acoustic instrument, or two? Do you live is sight of the Geysers, steaming skyward? Wish you could meet regularly with other musicians to play some great old-time tunes, maybe, Celtic tunes? If so, you're invited to attend Pick, Strum n’ Saw, nestled gently below the highest point in the Mayacamas Mountain Range, Cobb Mountain. You'll meet some of the nicest people! The location is conveniently situated at Mountain High Coffee and Books, Cobb CA (70 minutes from Ukiah, Santa Rosa & Healdsburg, 60 minutes from Hopland, 45 minutes from Pope Valley, 43 minutes from Calistoga, 34 minutes from Lakeport, 30 minutes from Clearlake, 25 minutes from Kelseyville).
The Pick, Strum n’ Saw offers free, monthly jam sessions that allow musicians and singers to learn, practice, and enjoy traditional music in a relaxed setting. Bring your instrument and join in, or just sit and listen. Participants play a wide array of acoustic instruments, such as the fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Other acoustic instruments and folk music devices are welcome too! Jams feature a round-robin style, and players choose a variety of traditional folk tunes from the Fiddlers’ Fake Book (by David Brody). Open to all ages and levels of experience. We begin with a slow jam and move along to a faster jam pace. Come join us!
Bring a friend! Come more than once! While jam format is the same every time, the music each afternoon is a little different, depending on the mood of the musicians, the guests that attend, and the season of the year.
Show your support for Mountain High Coffee and Books by treating yourself to a coffee or book! Afterwards, have dinner at Brick Oven Pizza, next door. And, if you like, stick around afterward for the open-mic session that starts at 7:00 in Mountain High Coffee and Books! Visit Cobb earlier in the day and hike or mountain-bike in beautiful Bogg State Demonstration Forest!
