Seirm, the music arm of Slighe nan Gaidheal, Washington's Gaelic language and cultural society will begin a new season of sharing Scottish Gaelic dance tunes and songs in September. The mixed instrument / vocal group currently includes fiddle celtic harps, guitar and pennywhistle. About half our time is spent accompanying our singers and half doing dance tunes.

The group meets three times per month on Monday evenings in North Seattle. For more information, please visit http://www.slighe.com/seirm

The NW Scottish Fiddlers are hosting Scottish fiddle giant Alisdair Fraser and the sensational cello player Natalie Haas for a workshop at Camp Casey, near Coupeville, on Whidbey Island in Washington State. This is a very scenic location and promises to be a very fun weekend indeed. Alasdair is inviting workshop participants to end his Sunday afternoon concert by playing the grand finale.

Calum MacKinnon will be on hand to support beginning fiddlers while Josefina Hunner will teach the craft of DADGAD guitar tuning and back up.

Bike Your Watershed is a yearly environmental event that happens at Tumwater Historic Park in Tumwater, Washington. I'm sponsoring a session in the park to coincide with this event. Bring a chair, we'll provide some refreshments. Open session, we tend to play Old Time, Portland Collection etc. Celtic and French Canadian, so fun.

Biking starts from 8 am to 10 am and features four routes: 5 miles around Capitol Lake, 20 miles up into the Deschutes Watershed (partly along the Chehalis Western Trail), a new route to Boston Harbor and a new route that goes by Black Lake.
